Living a well balanced life

Living a well balanced life

Balanced living

Balance scales

While we had a normal life experience we felt that we were living a well balanced life but living under quarantine feels like life is upside down. We feel out of balance and that makes us feel out of control.

Living a well balanced life means we have some measure of control on our lives, some measure of predictability. The truth is that there is no such thing as TRUE BALANCE and that what we really seek is the avoidance of being OUT OF BALANCE. The fact that under quarantine we have lost much of our civil liberties is a perfect example of why we seek a life of balance. Think about the thoughts and feelings you have under quarantine. Loss of control, loss of power, fear, anxiety, worry and insecurity about tomorrow. When will this end? How can I feed my family like this? Will my job be there when its over? How will the financial crisis caused by the pandemic affect my future?

As a life coach I advise people to seek a balanced life between work and home; between health and finances, love and spirituality. These are important and those of you who have succeeded, or partly succeeded in living a balanced life can lean against that life of conviction to find the peace you need in times of crisis. The focus on love relationships that now nourish you as you nourish them. The focus on managing limited financial reserves can add to your fear and uncertainty or give you peace that you can dutifully manage these times and see a future that will restore your savings.

What is the lesson here?

Mature people with a love of life and a passion for the people and purpose in their lives can certainly claim they have achieved a fair amount of balance that is there to fall back on in times of crisis. Now is the time to lean on that strength and be the strength to others around you. Be the leader in making peace a priority in your family and sharing that peace to friends and co-workers. Share messages of encouragement to others as you nourish and support yourself also needing to support your personal convictions that God is there, that He is still present and that “this too shall pass” and life will resume. Living a well balanced life has served you well in the past and even more so in the crisis. Be a beacon to your community.
