Happy 1st Anniversary docMIKE Blog!
What is a perfect 10?
Well, for me, its being on top of my game. It’s being able to face everyday with the energy I need to care for each patient on an individual basis. As a chiropractor my daily routines are quite physical, realigning spines, and also less physical but quite mental/intellectual in counselling my patients regarding their physical limitations. It is also getting involved with wellness counselling that brings my patients up a notch or two in their personal lifestyles, so their chiropractic encounter is more than just a back or neck free of pain.
Sad to say people are generally poorly equipped to engage life toward a constant healthy outcome. People have so many misconceptions, misunderstandings and even outright false information and opinions about life and health. It is about taking on every patient where they are in the thrust of their life, and looking objectively at how to pull apart the working concepts they hold about health and life in general.
Why do I want to be a perfect 10?
Personally, I work towards being a perfect 10 is because it honors my personal standards, so being a 10 is about being there for my patients and readers as well as for my own family… but that may not be the same for you. Now that I have shared something about myself, lets now focus on you. Ask yourself what benefits would you get from being a perfect 10?
A good definition of a perfect 10 ideally is all about good health in all aspects of one’s life. In fact the World Health Organization describes Health this way:
“Health is a state of complete mental, physical, social well-being, not merely the absence of disease or infirmities.” Take a minute to think about it makes us realize how far we fall short on that. It means a lot more than not feeling good or feeling bad today.
-
mental well-being, – not being so stressed at work or by your environment
-
physical, well-being, – do what you what you want to do it when you want to do it because you are not limited or tired.
-
social well-being, – not being so irritated by others, in fact being the sunshine that walks in the room.
How would that look like if you were a perfect 10? What does that look like in your own terms? The key to health lies in honoring the Five Essentials of Health. Rating yourself in each area is where to climb up the restorative steps back to a 10 in each of the following areas: Proper Nutrition, Proper Fitness, Proper Rest, Positive / right thinking and Proper Nerve Supply.
Now that is what this blog is all about… empowering you, our readers. Enjoy year 2 and please do not hesitate to “Ask docMIKE” if you don’t find what you need, or need further clarification. God Bless!
