Positively Positive in 2019

Positively Positive in 2019 2019 is a wonderful year to focus on Positive Living. Last year my New Years message was on personal accountability. After a year of improving one’s discipline, the perfect follow through is to turn that personal growth outwardly to improve the lives of others. Holding a positive outlook inspires us to look at ways we can contribute the well being of others. Especially when their well being has a positive impact on your own life. To…

Add Accountability to Your New Year’s Resolutions

Add Accountability to Your New Year’s Resolutions The common social activity when January 1 rolls around is the feeling of “new hope” or the ability to “start again” with a new resolve. We give certain issues a higher priority, even make the proverbial new year’s resolution or commitment. This a healthy human trait, one that says: “Today s the first day of the rest of my life!” In all matters of life where we succeed there is always a driving…

Vitalism – a Chiropractic Viewpoint

VITALISM is a term known and understood by few people but yet it is as significant to each and everyone of us as LIFE and DEATH. We could say that in general the use of the term VITALISTIC describes the sum of a person’s well being. Comparing two individuals to one another in many circumstances, one would conclude how one person is healthier than the other. Or in other words one person is expressing greater vitalism than the other.…

What are you wiling to give up for lent?

While driving in my car listening to the radio the announcer asked her listeners to tweet or Facebook what they are wiling to give up for Lent; after all it is Lent! So the first responder had this to say: “I am wiling to give up 15 to 20 of my future years so that I can eat my candy and crispy pata (pork rinds) today.”  An initial chuckle is understandable but it would / should quickly be followed by a…

Disc Rehydration – spine care

Spinal injury and a sedentary life style lead to drying out of the spinal discs because the discs are like a sponge.  They get water and nutrition from motion as they are moved and squeezed with normal everyday activity. When the disc does not move properly there is limited circulation into it.  The gel in the disc dries out, the associated ligaments, cartilage and tendons dry out, and muscles go into spasm.  Even bone degenerates.  This causes pain.…

Sedentary epidemic

Sedentary life-styles of today are at epidemic levels and are contributing to many neuromusculoskeletal problems as well as a principal contributor to the highest incidence of Type 2 Diabetes and Insulin resistance in history. Where will people seek help from this epidemic? Today they have two choices: the customary drugs and surgery professions OR the natural and alternative professions; chiropractors being the most formally educated of this latter group.…

Gout

Mary Welling has been over enjoying the Christmas Holidays. It happens! We enjoy and enjoy all the goodies, the large meals and especially the great variety of lamb, beef, chicken, duck and seafood. The stomach expressed its moments of disturbances but self resolved rather quickly. But to Mary’s surprise she began to develop right knee and left big toe pains. The great toe was especially painful after visiting the malls and after walking back home from Sunday church.…

New Year’s resolution or commitment

New Year’s resolution or commitment, that is the question I would like to pose our readers and wellness participants. So why is it that so many people do not accomplish or fulfill their New Year’s resolution? That is the question of the day. What do you think? A resolution is defined as “a firm decision to do or not to do something; the act of finding an answer or solution to a problem.” Ask yourself, is that really what you mean or intend…
